2000 Speed Triple |
While the first Daytona T595 proved Triumph's technical accomplishments, it was the related T509 Speed Triple that signalled the company's capacity to produce bold, original designs. The lean, aggressive styling with its stripped down, streetfighter look promises a hard-edged performance which the Daytona-derived engine and chassis are perfectly capable of delivering - frame, suspension, brakes and engine are all to leading edge, supersports standards.
The 110PS (108bhp) version of the Daytona's acclaimed, liquid-cooled, three-cylinder engine endows the bike with prodigious acceleration even from low down the rev range, while the precision handling and breathtakingly powerful brakes will satisfy even the most demanding sports rider.
Practicality, as always, has remained high on the list of priorities, so despite the uncompromised style the Speed Triple is still a capable machine when it comes to commuting or long distance touring.
But whatever you do with it, you can be sure of one thing - there will be plenty of people watching you do it.
